A record number of 12,000 people have honored Winter Harvest Festival with their presence and joined the celebrations for Scenic Rim’s premium farm produce.

The Eat Local Week trademark event involved a buffet of Scenic Rim’s produce and attracted locals and tourists coming from Brisbane, Toowoomba, Ipswich and nearby areas.

Accompanied by her father Henry, a former Queensland minister for primary industries, premier Annastacia Palaszczuk spend two hours engaging with local producers before judging the closely called Tractor Pulling Competition.

Ms Palaszczuk had commented that the Winter Harvest collected a very appealing range of fresh farm food for visitors with a strong focus on quality and variety.

She had visited the area in Tropical Cyclone Debbie’s aftermath and met with producers in affected regions. She expressed her gratitude to see so many visitors to the event, just 120 days after the Cyclone Debbie.

Walking in the food stalls and attractions, she commented that visitors, apart from getting exposed to a wide range of fresh local produce available right in front of them, will also realise that the area is revived despite the hit from the weather.

The event was announced by Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen, open from June 30 to July, as a huge hit.

He implied that the week has been very impressive and that the Scenic Rim Eat Local event was able to demonstrate their main local industries which are agriculture and tourism.

Vicky and Troy Muller from Peak Veggie Patch, exposed their produce to the weekend’s event array of farm products.

They couldn’t hide their excitement that Premier devoted their time to come and interact with farmers, that just a couple of months ago were affected by the destructive action of Cyclone Debbie.

This was a real reward for the tough work and devotion of farmers to recharge their energies and efforts and reproduce what they lost.

He also expressed his gratitude for all the visitors that came to the event to try the fresh food produce, join the farmers, and show their support to local farmers.

Ms Palaszczuk had revealed that the Queensland government was honored to fund $25,000 to support this year's Scenic Rim Eat Local Week.

The Council forecasts that the 2017 event will raise local economy of the regions by a whopping $1.7 million.
