Elise Wilson being granted her highly desired scholarship helped her pave the way to a her new career path.

Wilson was raised on a farm around the Coleambally region and was awarded last year the Jan Cathcart scholarship (from SunRice).

The scholarship is  dedicated to the memory of Jan Cathcart, a female long-term member of Sunrice with a rich 43 history of offering to the rice field with her grants on educational and professional opportunities to other females who show a similar enthusiasm and dedication to the industry.

Miss Wilson was subject to numerous privileges after being granted the scholarship. She reveals that was a great basis that has granted her many opportunities to enhance her working history in marketing and HR.

Perhaps one of her top moments is her participation in the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation award ceremony held in Canberra on 2016. She mentioned meeting other talented women and realised their offerings to the local agricultural communities.

Females that are closely tied to the rice field, who have plans to attend or currently attending tertiary courses can submit an application for the scholarship grant.

The amount granted reaches $10K and covers max. 3 years of tertiary studies.

Qualified candidates are picked depending on their devotion to following an agricultural profession, any past relevant working history, and community contributions as well as leader skills and academic performance.

Laurie Arthur, Sun Rice chairman encouraged MIA females to apply as well.

He commented that SunRice is honored to be in a position to support the professional progress of females in the rice field with the Jan Cathcart scholarship.

He revealed that his organisation welcomes females from their networkings to submit their applications or to give their nominations for other females for the chance to be a part of Jan’s enthusiasm and devotion to generating a robust rice industry.

Application details are found here: www.sunrice.com.au/JanCathcartScholarship. The scholarship winner will be revealed during 2018.
