NEW HORT FUND OPEN

2017 FARMER OF THE YEAR SOUGHT
Nominations are being sought nationally for The Weekly Times Coles 2017 Farmer of the Year awards in the following categories: Beef, cropping, dairy, horticulture, sheep and innovative farmers of the year. From the winners of these six categories, one farmer will ultimately be crowned Farmer of the Year. Each category winner will receive $5K in prizes, with the Farmer of the Year receiving $10K cash. Winners will be announced in February.

$22K FOR YOUNG AG INNOVATORS
Applications are now open for the 2018 Science and Innovation Awards for Young People in Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. People aged 18-35 can apply for a grant of up to $22,000 to fund your project on an innovative or emerging scientific issue that will benefit Australia’s primary industries. There are 11 categories: cotton; dairy; established, new and emerging rural industries; fisheries and aquaculture; grains; health and biosecurity; meat and livestock; pork; red meat processing; viticulture and oenology and wool. Winners of the industry category are then invited to apply for the Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources’ Award, which provides additional funding for an extended research project. The Australian Government’s Supply Chain Facilitation Assistance program offers free access to a skilled advisor to strengthen supply chains and improve access new markets.
